Snow Cream

Here’s a quick and cheap recipe the kids will love on a snow day:

Fill a mixing bowl with fresh snow (powdery snow is the best).  While mixing, add milk until  it has the consistency of creamy mashed potatoes. Keep mixing, add sugar until it tastes sweet.  Continue mixing, and add vanilla until it tastes like fresh vanilla ice cream.

Total recipe time: 5 minutes

Total cost: Close to nothing

This doesn’t just have to be with kids. It will also make for a good snack by the fireplace with your significant other.

I used to LOVE this as a kid! We grew up in Utah so did this a few times a year and I always plan to find the recipe to use with my kids and forget to look when snow starts to fall! We’re getting snow over Halloween it looks like, so I’ll be trying this out again soon!

  2. I grew up in eastern Montana, and my mom used to make this for us with the first substantial snowfall of every year. What a great memory! I’m certain it will have the same effect on your kids.
